How odd, I was looking at the statistics for this web site and I see that I get absolutely hammered by the search engines:

So, this means that 101075 hits are from search engines out of the total 126256 hits or that search engines make up exactly 80% of the traffic to this site. Nice that Yahoo and Google love me so much but the 1GB of content they downloaded over 1GB of content. Would be nice if they could tone it down a bit. I’ve already adjusted my crawl rate on the engines but I seem to have missed Yahoo and now have made some efforts there to correct that.

I just had an idea and I think it might be rather cool…

So, I was reading the morning’s blogs/news/etc. and I came across an article in which the author had clearly just mistyped the sentence “but the company has said” instead saying “but then company has said”. This made me think, in these days of the social web editors and the distribution chain are spending less time proof reading, in addition there are a greater number of people who are less extensively educated being involved (I think we can all agree that education is less strict at the bottom echelons). Personally I don’t think my standard of English is bad but at the same time I know I regularly make mistakes while typing and that there are doubtless many errors that I don’t pick up on (my family occasionally corrects me). Welcome to Us in Orbit.

This site is a personal blog and article site for Bob and Angeliki, it doesn’t attempt to document our lives but aims to be a vent for thoughts and information.

I (Bob) was formerly a lecturer before being tempted back to industry, but I like to offer my assistance to anyone who has an interesting question. So if you have some challenges, if you want my opinion then please contact me and I will consider publishing a response. I would also like to offer consultancy on a commercial basis if you are venturing into areas where I might be useful. Students are welcome to pose me questions related to their studies, although I don’t expect to be doing your work for you and I will be unlikely to provide references sufficient to make my words truly authoritative.

Many thanks,

Bob

So,

We've been sitting here and curious about our new pages, so we've been looking at who was visiting. AND I am surprised to see someone from the BBC navigating our site, one of my old colleagues I suppose, but it was fun to watch their navigation. Disappointing that they voted 1 for one of my pages, thanks for the support!

Keep watching!

Ok, so here I am, I've moved my blog to my website.

I've had this domain for years and been playing with it on and off. But now after harrassment from Angel I have decided to actually make use of this site and here it is!

Enjoy, register to both comment and rate my posting.

Also checkout the articles section, I hope to be making travel and technology comments beyond just my blog!
