We are currently house hunting and that is proving to be quite a painful experience because the market really has over-inflated the price of property in the UK. I look at some of the properties and I think, why would I pay that much?! But, I really want to build my first house, however the market for land is even more uncertain. The houses that I visit have proportions that are designed for a different generation and the market seems to be under the impression they can sell a property with some over inflated price based on the value if the property was renovated less some minimal cost to renovate*. One significant factor is that we are a couple that like to cook together and most kitchens are too small, thus you either compromise your lifestyle or factor in major structural changes. With land I find that people price it based on the potential, which isn’t fair because they haven’t actually put any effort into giving the land value. Land shouldn’t be worth some mythical value which doesn’t actually give you anything in return because at the end of the day it is a location plus dirt not a virtual house.
So, if someone reading this knows of some land to buy or has some land they want to sell then let me know! I will even pay 1% commission to anyone helping me secure the purchase of some suitable land. There is an incentive for you!

include observations based on the past two decades of the property market by the
authors who have had varying levels of involvement in property and construction but
are presently unable to purchase due to the state of the current property market.

DVB-T2 is an 'improved' version of the existing methods we use to broadcast digital television using traditional terrestrial antennas. The idea is to achieve a better than 30% improvement in available capacity.
There is a question that has been circulated to the group discussing the design of this system: "how much will it cost?", the true cost is not the transmission system but the cost of the boxes. Here are some of my thoughts, many of which I have not sent to the DVB-T2 group because they fall outside of the debate I want to involve myself in.

So I continue on with social networking, it's something I have taken to much better than blogging if I confess. But I am prolific, I have a linked-in account, a Facebook account and an Xing account (the latter of which is rather stagnant at the moment). But I begin to realise that my business is now more and more about conglomerations of business contacts than it is about the company I work for.
Today I was asked about how someone would setup a particular broadcast network, then another time I am asked about if I could help someone with some other activity, then someone who would have been considered an arch-rival in business until recently calls and asks if we can provide them our technology (of course, at a price). It is all just contacts and clouds of people working together to achieve someone's goals.
But the networking is not just virtual, some of these deals happened on-line, others were the result of meeting someone at an event, but it's all just networking. Someone sees the potential in you and despite the traditional barriers they ask "for the good of my business I can work with this person".
