I was just replying to a potential supplier, one who's products I think are so amazing that I won't say their name because it will give away my plans (they only have one product at the moment). I really want to use their product, desperately, it seems that their current product doesn't quite meet all my needs, but roll on 2008/9 and they might be ready. But their product is so useful that I've found many other uses for it in my product range, damn. I lamented to my liason:

"Oh, how I wish I had a free hand with my work sometimes, what havoc and beauty I would inflict on the world of technology."

I was going to continue my lamenting, but I thought that was enough for a suppliers sensibilities. But I wondered, if I prove myself with a killer product/feature, perhaps I could get some indulgance with future crazy ideas, they'ed have to work out for the first couple of times, but I think they would.

Does the tempering provided by my commercial colleagues make a better product or does it restrict my creativity? For surely pretty much all that I, as a technologist do is think creatively? Now I rationalise and I think perhaps the tempering is good for business, but perhaps not so good for the world in general? Shouldn't I be let off my leash from time to time?

We've been over to Chislehurst to get Angel a hair cut, and I've visited Ravensboure. The more things change the more they stay the same. Lots different to see, but it's the same old story. Nice to see the friendly faces, bitter sweet memories to be had there.

Collected an external HDD I had left behind, now my machine will spend an eternity copying it's musical contents over to my server for archive. This could take a while… 23,670 files… and 22,900 to go.

Hoping for a relaxing weekend…

So,

We've been sitting here and curious about our new pages, so we've been looking at who was visiting. AND I am surprised to see someone from the BBC navigating our site, one of my old colleagues I suppose, but it was fun to watch their navigation. Disappointing that they voted 1 for one of my pages, thanks for the support!

Keep watching!

Venice is a nice place to be for 2 to max 3 days. I don’t know if I would like to live there. The cold penetrates you to the bone and personally I had troubles to sleep because of the horrible pain to my body’s joints caused from the humid. I also got back with a terrible cold which still exhausts me one week later. I know that you may think that it can’t be that bad, how can one nag when being in one of the most romantic places in Europe! Indeed it is an exciting place which combines the unpreserved matured beauty with the modern facilities and luxury. While approaching the island you have the feeling of entering an industrial zone or a shipyard. Once sailing slowly down the Grand Canal, penetrating the island you begin sensing the blows of the city’s charm.

Amazing buildings, great Venetian architecture, arched windows supported on double roman columns, soft pastel colours, decayed walls, green with moss entrances emerging from the sea level, grandiose heavy double wooden doors, geraniums hanging off the windows reflecting their beauty into the still sparkling murano crystal window-screens formed by hundreds of little glassware circles bonded together. But the best is yet to come…

As the dark falls the town is dressed in its heavy black velvet cloak, covers its face in a golden Venetian mask and strolls into the narrow allays or sails in the dank canals. If you are lucky enough, you may find her in one of those little bars offering you a glass of deep red fruity wine, drinking with you and telling you amazing stories for ghosts and secret lovers. This is Venice. A town stopped in time but never forgotten.

Ok, so here I am, I've moved my blog to my website.

I've had this domain for years and been playing with it on and off. But now after harrassment from Angel I have decided to actually make use of this site and here it is!

Enjoy, register to both comment and rate my posting.

Also checkout the articles section, I hope to be making travel and technology comments beyond just my blog!

Over the years I have travelled a fair bit, more than my fair share and I have no intention of stopping now I have started. Luckly my work keeps me on the move and I should average about once a month out of the UK. I have also made a habbit of socialising internationally from college to present day. I have played with many languages over the years: French, Japanese, Spanish, German, Polish, Swedish, Norwegian and now Greek, none very successfully however but I tried for love and money.

Combining these two elements I have drawn some conclusions about different countries approaches to language…

So,

We've just returned from Venice, it was lovely and well worth the time. I realised several things while I was out there:

1) I still hate crowds and tourists (wish I could take a tazer on holiday with me)
2) The average American tourist is the most annoying in the world.
3) The Italians are more helpful and friendly than I could have imagined.
4) It's expensive to be trapped on an island who's main income is tourism.
5) Book major attractions off-season and book hotels directly.
