Good post Bob. I agree with you amongst the technical aspects of 3D, the frame rate is not sufficient enough per eye to achieve smooth movement. If the technology doesn't improve and faster frame rates aren't used, I'd rather stick to the 2D version everyday.

I'm surprised production values haven't been adapted more aggressively for 3D too. Whilst Avatar was a bit better, some of 3D productions I have seen have been truly awful. Those out of focus objects in the foreground that do not fit within the full frame and look pretty in 2D just doesn't work in 3D and should be kept out of shot. The amount of depth of field issues as well also need to be addressed.

I think 3D could have potential in the future but its going to need to technological and production value advances to ever achieve this. For now, personally 3D is quite an annoying experience and further from life like than 2D.
